Whew, now that I have confessed my shortcomings, on to my normal ramblings of an old, retired biker who enjoys the camaraderie that can be found in a HOG chapter. Last night’s Christmas party was a prime example of what you would expect to see in a group working together for the common good. Looking at our membership and seeing the turnout you quickly realize that this note will reach half of our chapter that for whatever reason was unable to attend.
As I mingled around the group meeting friends and acquaintances, I quickly understood I did not know or have ever met several people in attendance. Being a fringe member in the chapter, I find I have more in common with 50% of members already in the chapter. I thrive on meeting new people, and I use the word fringe because many HOG members are busy with life and are not able to make all the rides or functions.
I sat next to someone who is a relatively new rider, and what I described as a fringe member. Come to find out we had much in common, exchanged numbers and made the beginnings of a newly formed relationship. We all want to feel appreciated and accepted, let’s make 2025 a year of developing new relationships with those who share our passion of pulling back on the throttle!
Thank you for allowing me to serve as your favorite editor, and thanks to all the other officers for supplying me enough straw to make bricks. The bottom line for Harley-Davidson for HOG members can be summed up as “we all are customers”. As a customer the smart store owner wants your business and will make sure they are doing all they can do to keep it. |
