Riding a motorcycle can be a thrilling and enjoyable experience, but it also comes with some risks and challenges. One of the most important aspects of motorcycle safety is protecting your eyes from the sun, wind, dust, debris, and insects that can impair your vision and cause injuries. That’s why wearing proper eyewear is essential for every motorcycle rider.

We kicked off the 2023 riding season with a ES-HOG exclusive class, hosted by WMST in Everett, with a focus on slow-speed maneuvers, negotiating obstacles on the road, braking, and of course a lot of fun!  

Reflecting on the riding season… Learning from past experiences will make you a better rider. Sounds pretty obvious, right? When experiencing something memorable, positive, one wants to repeat this very scenario again; on the opposite side, when something less exciting, or downright nerve-wrecking occurred, one clearly wants to get this out of one’s head as quickly as possible. And yet, this less-than-desirable moment could hold some valuable learnings to unpack; not going crazy over it but reflecting on some key elements.

Warm, dry days are the best for motorcycle riding, right? We made it through that wet and cold spring, we deserve some great riding days! And yet, as with many things in life, too much of a good thing could warrant some precautions to fully enjoy it. And while riding last week, I recall some song lyrics along the lines of “We have joy, we have fun, we are sizzling in the sun….” – and so, nature wrote the lines for this “hot” topic.

The National Safety Council (NSC, http://www.nsc.org ) declared April as ‘Distracted Driving Awareness Month’; a worthy topic for this newsletter, right at the start of the riding season, with the goal to spark some thoughts about this subject when riding a motorcycle.
